President Obama’s re-election team continues to try to get out in front of Saturday’s selection of Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin as Republican Mitt Romney’s vice-presidential running mate.
The Obama campaign is already out with a new Web video titled “Get to know Paul Ryan,” and features aspects of the House Budget Committee chairman’s deeply conservative “Ryan budget.” The video shows clips of a number of TV pundits analyzing — and criticizing — various parts of the Ryan budget. It also shows clip after clip of Romney endorsing the Ryan proposals.
“In Ryan, Romney has selected a running mate best known for designing the extreme GOP budget that would end Medicare as we know it, and — just like Romney’s plan — actually raise taxes on middle-class Americans to pay for an additional $250,000 tax break for millionaires and billionaires,” Obama strategist David Axelrod says in an email introducing the video. “As a leader of the House Republicans and a Tea Party favorite, Congressman Ryan has led the relentless, intensely ideological battle for these kinds of budget-busting policies that punish seniors and the middle class.’
